St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a Full Time Facilities Maintenance Manager.

Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Manager (hereafter “Manager”) is responsible for the development and management of building operations (including HVACmechanical, plumbing, electrical, and safety/energy systems), capital improvement planning, asset replenishment, and buildings and grounds maintenance.  Properties include church, school, and rectory.  Manager is responsible for ensuring applicable diocesan and facilities policies and standards are implemented including property and risk management policies.

Working Relationships:

  • Reports to the Pastor and works in collaboration with him, the parish staff, and various committees to assist them in their ministerial goals and objectives.
  • Is available for communication with parish groups and individual parishioners, officials of the Diocese, contractors, vendors, and consultants.
  • Oversees the activities and effectiveness of the janitorial team, maintenance staff and grounds keepers and all other contractors and vendors involved in property maintenance.
  • Works with the school principal and staff on issues of building maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep.
  • Works closely with the Director of Finance and Development on developing and managing annual and extended capital budgets, actual spending and significant capital projects requiring the raising of appropriate funding.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop and implement policies relating to building administration and space use.
  • Coordinate all efforts pertaining to building maintenance, repair, and capital improvement.
  • Develop and initiate contracts with all vendors (i.e. janitorial, grounds, HVAC, etc.) working with the Director of Finance and Development on the financial aspects of each contract. Supervise contracted employees and vendors.
  • Assist the Director of Finance and Development in the preparation of annual operating budgets, capital budgets and long-term capital plans. Accountable for building facility and maintenance budgets.
  • Develop and direct a system of routine maintenance and long-term improvement for all church properties.
  • Maintain and update all operational manuals for key systems. Maintain computer records of parish building and facility inventory and assets.
  • Oversee purchasing for the operations of the parish within the budgetary and financial procedure framework.
  • Oversee repair/maintenance of office equipment, ensuring that all contracts are in place to provide outstanding support to all staff.
  • Participate in regional and Diocesan meetings concerning areas of facility and building management. Assist Pastoral staff members in all questions of space use.
  • Arrange for volunteers when needed for facility/building management tasks.
  • Oversee all aspects of Building Security including functioning as first point of contact for police, firefighters, and alarm-monitoring company; developing and strengthening building security practices; maintaining records related to assignment of keys to the building; scheduling and supervising annual and semi-annual inspections (e.g. fire, alarms, elevator, building); and coordinating with Diocesan authorities on all aspects of security, safety, and risk management; complete diocesan surveys when requested.

Working Conditions:

  • This is an exempt position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. The position, at the discretion of the Pastor, will require the presence of the Manager on evenings and weekends.  The Manager maintains regular office hours Monday through Friday except when church business necessitates time away.

Requirements:

  • College degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Facilities Management, or related field.
  • Knowledge of facilities management including dedicated HVAC systems. Must demonstrate the ability to work with computer systems.  Must demonstrate management and interpersonal skills. Must be able to pass all background screenings required for parish and school staff.
  • Preference will be given to a Catholic in good standing. All candidates should be supportive of the mission of the Catholic Church.

Catholic Campus Ministry operates at James Madison University, which is a public, state university nestled in the heart of the Virginia’s scenic Shenandoah Valley. James Madison University has an enrollment of over 20,000 students and is ranked as a top university in the Princeton Review. The Director of Development at the Catholic Campus Ministry at James Madison University will be responsible for growing and expanding an already well-established development program through meeting with supporters, composing appeal letters and cultivating and maintaining the over 200 monthly donors to the ministry. Payroll Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all payroll related functions for the Catholic Diocese of Richmond. The payroll team oversees $100MM+ in payroll and benefit related transactions in the KRONOS system in accordance with diocesan policies and state/federal regulations for approximately 3,000 diocesan priests, religious and lay employees.  Qualifications:  A working knowledge of payroll policies and procedures, federal and state statutes pertaining to FLSA, tax status, and wage reduction programs, and computer systems is required. Ability to apply modern accounting principles and procedures in a non-profit setting; ability to multi-task to handle multiple projects simultaneously; ability to think analytically to identify discrepancies and errors in payroll reports; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and to create effective working relationships with employees and other departments is critical. Audit Manager who supports the Finance Office by managing and performing parish and school internal audits on a cyclical basis, reviewing parish budget and financial statements and serving as an accounting resource to locations. This position will also manage an internal auditor and serve as ParishSoft subject matter expert.  The Audit Manager will also support the general office administration of the Finance Office.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, CPA preferred with at least 3-5 years of experience in not-for-profit and fund accounting. CPA firm experience preferred; CIA or CISA with internal audit experience also considered. Experience managing people is preferred. Knowledge of auditing, accounting, budgeting methods and financial reporting is required. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Director, Office of Safe Environment 

The Catholic Diocese of Richmond seeks a Director for the Office of Safe Environment.

The Director of Safe Environment manages the Safe Environment program for the Catholic Diocese of Richmond and is responsible for implementing the Bishop’s Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. The Director manages the background screening and safe environment training for clergy, employees, and volunteers across the diocese and identifies and trains qualified facilitators to deliver the VIRTUS’ training program, “Protecting God’s Children.” 

The Director supervises the Victim Assistance Coordinator and works with the Vicar General/Vicar for Clergy, diocesan attorneys and the Diocesan Review Board regarding alleged claims of sexual abuse. The Director also completes the annual USCCB audit, ensuring the diocese is in compliance with the Charter.  In addition to the Victim Assistance Coordinator, the Director supervises administrative support staff.  

Qualifications:  The Director must be a Catholic in good standing.  The Director will possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, counseling, or a related field, and at least 5 years of experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment. Required skills include supervisory skills, communication, leadership, facilitation, planning and organizing, and pastoral sensitivity.  Other qualifications include the ability to maintain confidentiality, possess solid working knowledge of MS Office, an ability to resolve problems and analyze data/metrics, and the capacity to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.  This is a full-time position with the expectation of some nights and weekends.

The Diocese of Richmond’s Office of Human Resources is seeking a Victim Assistance Coordinator to provide compassionate outreach to victim survivors of sexual misconduct of church personnel of the Diocese of Richmond.  Position Summary:

CLUSTER PARISH YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY LEADER is responsible for coordinating the parish Youth Ministry program and outreach to young adults within the parishes.
