The Catholic Diocese of Richmond seeks a highly qualified, innovative and strategic leader for the position of Superintendent, Office of Catholic Schools. The Superintendent will oversee the vision and planning for 30 Catholic schools serving over 9,000 students, located throughout the state of Virginia. All schools are accredited by AdvancEd with 14 Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence designations.
The Superintendent serves as the chief school administrator providing day-to-day advice and consultation to pastors, presidents, principals and local school boards. This position serves as the liaison with the State Department of Education and the Virginia Council for Private Education, and supervises the accreditation process, ensuring adherence to standards, policies, job performance and school objectives.
The Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that the Office of Catholic Schools continues to provide an academically excellent Christ-centered educational system. This position will carefully monitor and ensure the faith formation of students and faculty, the academic performance of students and the professional excellence of school staffs, while also addressing ongoing challenges of affordability, accessibility and enrollment, particularly as they apply to an economically, culturally and geographically diverse diocese, to include the Segura Initiative, which provides access to quality Catholic school education for all Latino children in the Diocese of Richmond. The Superintendent supervises office staff and monitors all related school budgets.
The ideal candidate should have expertise in curriculum design (secular and religious), be able to understand and coach effective teaching strategies and should understand state and federal law as it applies to Catholic schools. In addition, the successful candidate will be student- centered, welcoming of parents, approachable and visible in the school and parish community. This candidate will demonstrate a high level of communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills.
The successful candidate must possess a minimum of seven to ten years’ administrative experience, preferably in Catholic schools, and hold a master’s degree in education or a related field. A Ph.D or Ed.D in education is preferred. A practicing Catholic in good standing is required, as well as an understanding of the Catholic Church at parish, diocesan and national levels.

Payroll Specialist: The Catholic Diocese of Richmond is seeking a Payroll Specialist to process payroll in Kronos for diocesan locations and to be responsible for monitoring and auditing payroll submissions on a biweekly basis to ensure accurate payroll processing and to ensure compliance with diocesan policy and state/federal regulations. The successful candidate will collaborate with parish and school bookkeepers and business managers and assist in maintaining a wide variety of employee and payroll information submitted through Kronos, e.g. employee personal data, direct deposits, tax status, salary, voluntary and involuntary contributions, etc., for compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines. A working knowledge of payroll policies and procedures, federal and state statutes pertaining to FLSA, tax status, and wage reduction programs, and computer operations is necessary. Ability to apply modern accounting principles and procedures in a non-profit setting; ability to multi-task to handle multiple projects simultaneously; and ability to think analytically to identify discrepancies and errors in payroll reports. An ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and to create effective working relationships with employees and other departments is critical. Minimum of an associate degree in accounting, business or closely related field, plus at least two years of full-time payroll or accounting experience in a high-volume environment (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
