Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo has announced the following clergy appointments, effective July 1 or as noted:
(Father Herbert will continue to serve as Pastor at Good Shepherd-Lebanon, Saint Therese-St. Paul and St. Mary-Coeburn.
Msgr. J. Kenneth Rush will continue to serve as Pastor of Holy Cross in Lynchburg.)
The anniversary date of the ordination of a retired Diocese of Richmond priest was incorrect in the Milestones article in the June 11 issue of The Catholic Virginian. Father Joseph Majewski, who is retired and living in Spring Grove (in Virginia’s Surry County), was ordained a priest on May 14, 1966. So in 2012 he is celebrating his 46th anniversary of ordination, not his 45th.
The Catholic Virginian got its original information from the Diocese of Richmond 2011 Directory. The corrected date has now been entered on all diocesan records.
Thanks to Msgr. Raymond Barton, who was ordained a priest with Father Majewski, for informing us of the error.
Maurice Byuma, priest’s father, dies in Uganda
Maurice Byuma, the father of Father Gerald Musuubire, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Palmyra and St. Joseph’s Shrine of St. Katharine Drexel in Columbia, died June 14 in Uganda.
Father Musuubire will be traveling to Uganda for the funeral and to be with his family.
