Four to be ordained priests June 2Four men will be ordained to the diocesan priesthood for the Diocese of Richmond on Saturday, June 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. They are Deacon Joseph F. Goldsmith, Deacon Christopher M. Hess, Deacon Carlos H. Lerma and Deacon Sean M. Prince. Bishop Francis X. Social Ministry Training Day set June 2 at four sites“Partners in Ministry” will be the theme of Social Ministry Training day offered by the diocesan Office of Justice and Peace on Saturday, June 2 at four locations to ensure accessibility for all who are interested. The training session will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following locations: Holy Spirit Church, Jonesville (Lee County); St. Jude Church, Christiansburg; the Diocesan Pastoral Center in Richmond, and at St. Gregory the Great Church in Virginia Beach. “At this training, we will discuss recruitment for ministry and provide strategies and best practices for successful volunteer recruitment, retention, and management,” said Jay Brown, diocesan director of the OJP office. “In our past two trainings, we discussed Theological Basics for Social Ministers, writing Mission and Vision Statements, annual planning and setting mission based, measureable goals and objectives.
