Christmas Open House

St. Paul’s Catholic Church Docent Guild in Portsmouth will sponsor the first special Christmas open house on Wednesday, December 28, from noon until 3 p.m. Visitors will see the 19th century church decorated for the Christmas season. In addition, Jasmin Bradley will present a harpsichord recital at 2 p.m. Music from the Baroque period will be featured including works by J. S. Bach and Antonio Vivaldi. Nick Nespoli, pastoral musician at St. Paul’s, will sing selections from Handel’s “Messiah.” The church is located at High and Washington Sts.

‘Welcome Home’

shortakes submission informationThe Parish Community of St. Joan of Arc in Yorktown will offer a “Welcome Home” program for inactive Catholics who want to know more about the practice of the Faith. The program is a series of six classes offered at the church on six successive Monday evenings. Each session begins at 7 and ends around 8:30. There is no cost or obligation to the participants. The first session is scheduled for Monday, January 9. For more information or to enroll in the class, contact the church office at 757-898-5570.
