A Christmas appeal from Bishop DiLorenzo

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Again this year, a very important collection at the Christmas Masses will support the work of Catholic Charities throughout the Diocese.
Collectively, Commonwealth Catholic Charities and Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia are the faces of mercy in our diocese. The agencies reach out to those in need — the cold and hungry, pregnant women, neglected children, the elderly, refugees and immigrants and the homeless.
The Agencies provide vital programs and services and without your financial support of these programs, thousands of people in our diocese would suddenly be left vulnerable to the cruelties of fate. These days the needs are many, but they are not insurmountable. Through your donations, Commonwealth Catholic Charities and Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia can provide solutions and relief to even the most staggering of problems. Don’t let the basket pass you by. One hundred percent of the contributions from the Christmas Second Collection go to Catholic Charities to provide direct services.
I urge you during this Christmas season to take advantage of this opportunity to provide a gift of mercy and compassion to those who need it most. Be assured of my gratitude and with best wishes for this holy Christmas season, I remain,
Sincerely yours in Our Lord,

Most Rev. Francis X. DiLorenzo
Bishop of Richmond
