Fr. Pavone on radio
Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, will be speaking on a pro-life radio show in Hampton Roads on Wednesday, June 15, at 1 p.m. on 1110 AM dial. The program is sponsored by Virginia Coalition for Life.
The Music Ministry of St. Edward Church in Richmond will present the musical production “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” with words and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 16, 17 and 18, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10. Bon Secours Care-a-Van
Bon Secours will be hosting a blessing of the Care-A-Van on Friday, June 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Baptist Church, 5910 West Norfolk Road in Portsmouth.
The Bon Secours Care-A-Van is a free medical service that provides general medical care to uninsured adults and children over the age of 12 in Hampton Roads communities on the Southside and the Peninsula. Services include routine evaluation and treatment of common acute illnesses and also offers sports physicals, children’s health insurance enrollment, and health education services. Medical conditions that are beyond the team’s scope of care are referred to another care setting. The Care-A-Van team is bilingual and composed of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, physicians, patient technicians, and outreach workers.
‘Be Not Afraid’ training
Tracy Winsor, outreach coordinator of Be Not Afraid, Diocese of Charlotte, will speak about so-called poor prenatal diagnosis which might detect spina bifida or Down Syndrome at two separate workshops meant to train volunteers to be part of a peer ministry which provides help to support expectant parents who want to bring their baby to term.
Workshops will be held on Saturday, June 25, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, and on Monday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Diocesan Pastoral Center, 7800 Carousel Lane, Richmond.

Christan unity event
An Evening of prayer for Christian Unity will be held on Monday, June 27, at 7 p.m. at Church of the Holy Apostles when the community of Episcopalians and Roman Catholics host the 2011 Tidewater Regional LARCUM Conference.
The Rev. Marcus Engdahl will speak on “Ecumenism: Are We Much Farther Along?” All are welcome to this evening of prayer and reflection. Refreshments will be served and a nursery will be provided. The church is located at 1593 Lynnhaven Parkway in Virginia Beach. Phone 757-427-0963.
