Interfaith programA program “Jerusalem Women Speak: Three Women, Three Faiths, One Shared Vision” will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. at the University of Richmond, Jepson Hall in Room 118. Three women from the Partners for Peace speaking tour will present a panel discussion on building peace in Israel and Palestine, followed by questions from the audience. It is free and open to the public, but donations to support the tour are welcome.

St. Benedict parish missionA parish renewal mission led by Father Tony Stephens of the Fathers of Mercy (www.fathersofmercy) will take place at St. Benedict Church in Richmond beginning Saturday, Oct. 10, through Thursday, Oct. 15. OLN Crafts fairOur Lady of Nazareth Church’s 23rd Annual Crafts Fair and Bake Sale will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the church, 2505 Electric Road in Roanoke. Hand crafted items available will include holiday wreaths, pillows, gifts, aprons, floral arrangements, handmade doll clothes, Christmas ornaments and items for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas — one stop shopping! Proceeds will benefit parish outreach programs.
Marriage formationTraining for the FOCCUS Premarital Inventory will be held on two Saturdays in October. The first is Oct. 17 at Incarnation Parish in Charlottesville from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The second is Oct. 24 at the Pastoral Center in Richmond from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $80 per individual or married couple, lunch is included. These classes are offered for priests, deacons, or lay persons working with marriage preparation in their parishes. 5K Eagle ChallengeSaint Edward-Epiphany School in Richmond will host the 3rd Annual Eagle Challenge presented by Old Dominion Insulation, Inc., on Saturday, October 17 beginning at 8 a.m. The 5-K will be held in conjunction with the school’s annual Fall Fun Festival, and will start and finish in the rear parking lot of Saint Edward-Epiphany School at 10710 West Huguenot Road. A children’s fun run will kick off at 9:30 a.m. Registration for the 5K is $20 per runner. Cathedral concertFlutist Mary Boodell, Principal Flute of The Richmond Symphony, Violinist Sonya Chung of The Richmond Symphony, and Organist-Pianist Patrick Carlin will present a free one-hour CONCERT on Monday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m., at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, with music by Handel, Elgar and others. Following the concert a free lunch will be served. Reservations are not required.
Women’s spiritualityWomen’s Spirituality of St. Patrick Church in Lexington will gather on Monday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at House Mountain Inn for a Day of Rest, Reflection, and Renewal. Barbara Hughes, who has extensive experience as a retreat director, spiritual director, and is a featured columnist for The Catholic Virginian, will be the facilitator. Women in surrounding parishes are welcome. Cost is $25, and includes a buffet lunch. Information can be obtained by phoning the parish office at 540-463-3533. Deadline for reservations is Oct. 12.
Blessed Sacrament, NorfolkThe next concert of the 2009–2010 Concert Series at Blessed Sacrament will feature the Boys Choir of Hampton Roads on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 4 p.m. It is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the Social Hall. The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Golf Tournament will be held at Sewells Point Golf Course, Norfolk, on Friday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m., Shot Gun Start. The entry fee is $75 per player and includes golf and cart fees, range balls, cookout and prizes.
