Mass for Healing

The Tidewater Catholic Charismatic Renewal Service Committee will have a Mass for Healing on Tuesday, May 5, with the sacrament of the anointing of the sick at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Retreat House, 1414 N. Mallory St., Hampton.

Lebanese Food Festival

The 25th annual Lebanese Food Festival hosted by St. Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church in Richmond will be held Friday–Sunday, May 15–17, on the church grounds at 4611 Sadler Road. Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Rain or shine. There is free admission and free parking. Traditional food, desserts, live music and folk dancing. Golf classic

The 6th Annual Neumann Academy Golf Classic to benefit St. John Neumann Academy in Blacksburg will be held Saturday, May 16, at Draper Valley Golf Club. Check-in begins at 7:45 a.m. “Shotgun Start” begins at 8:30. The cost of $70 per golfer includes greens fee, cart, lunch provided by Sycamore Deli, and prizes. RCIA Study Day

An RCIA Study Day “Discernment of the Baptized” which addresses the responsibility of discerning the readiness of baptized candidates seeking full communion will be held on two Saturdays in May from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a session on May 2 at the Diocesan Pastoral Center in Richmond, and on May 16 at St. Therese Church in Chesapeake. An earlier Study Day was held April 25 at St. Mary’s in Blacksburg.

This Study Day is for pastors and pastoral leaders, RCIA coordinators and teams, catechists and sponsors, and for worship leaders.

Summer Academy

St. Benedict School, Richmond, will hold a Summer Academy offering various courses which will be held July 6-31 at morning sessions from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and afternoon sessions from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. for various grade levels from 1 to 8.

Courses include Reader’s Theater, Introduction to Philosophy, Greek Culture and Theatre, Wonders of Water and Classical Languages. In addition, a Basketball Camp will be held July 20–31.

Guided tours to visitors are available at St. Paul Catholic Church, Portsmouth, which is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmark Register.
