Casino NightCasino Night, an elegant affair with great music, delicious food, the energy of a Las Vegas casino, fantastic prizes and silent auction will be held at St. John Neumann Academy in Blacksburg on Saturday, March 1, at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $25 per person and all proceeds benefit the school. St. John Neumann Academy will hold Open House on Tuesday, February 26 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The school offers Preschool through 8th Grade and is located at 2470 Ramble Rd., Blacksburg. Cathedral concertsA benefit concert for the VCU Music Scholarship Fund will be presented by the VCU music faculty and students on Sunday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. A free one-hour concert of “Arias from Opera” will be presented by vocal soloists of the Cathedral and the VCU Department of Music on Monday, March 10, at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served in the parish hall after the concert.
Mark’s GospelMark’s Gospel LIVE as a solo performance will be held at Sacred Heart Church, in Norfolk (at the intersection of Princess Anne Road and Stockley Gardens — Blow Street) on Tuesday, March 11, at 7 p.m. There have been more than 160 performances throughout the US, UK, and Canada. All of St. Mark’s characters are portrayed as the story is narrated right from the Biblical text. There are no other actors. It is not a reading or a talk. It is the actual words of the Gospel memorized and performed like story telling. The performance runs about two hours, including a ten-minute intermission. Donations will be accepted for the support of Ghent Area Ministry.
Lenten Quiet DayShalom House Retreat Center in western Hanover County will hold a Lenten Quiet Day on Wednesday, March 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day will provide an occasion for prayer, silence, solitude and reflection.
