Richmond’s 400 Papal Mass tickets to be given through lottery
Dear Parishioners:
On Thursday, April 17, 2008, His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI will celebrate a Mass at the new Nationals Park, home of the Washington Nationals baseball team, in Washington, D.C., at 10 a.m. Our diocese has been given a limited number of tickets (400) to distribute to registered parishioners, and we will do that by lottery. I truly appreciate your patience, good humor and understanding as we do our best to allocate tickets in a way that is fair to all.
Making a Request. Those wishing to enter the lottery for Papal Mass tickets are asked to download the form from the diocesan website at www.richmonddiocese.org, then complete it and mail it to the Office of the Vicar General at the address below by March 7, 2008. Those without computer access may obtain a form from their parish. If selected by lottery, persons will be notified by mail sometime in mid-March.
Your request also must affirm that, if given a ticket, you will be able to attend the Papal Mass. Please note that Mass attendees need to arrive at the Stadium 2–3 hours ahead of time. The Diocese of Richmond will not arrange transportation to the Stadium, so you must be prepared for getting there on your own.
Things to Remember. Please note that making a request does not guarantee a ticket, since the number of tickets is limited (400). For each request that we are able to fulfill, a limit of two tickets will be given.
-
Tickets are free. Any tickets for sale on websites or through ticket brokers are fraudulent;
-
Individuals who request tickets will be required to provide name, address, phone number and date of birth;
-
All tickets are NON-TRANSFERABLE. Adult ticket holders will be required to show government issued photo identification at the entrance to the event. Students will be required to show student identification cards; and
-
All individuals entering the events will be subject to search by the United States Secret Service, and the Police Department.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
Please keep the Holy Father, this Papal visit and the needs of our Church and world in your prayers.
