Lenten fish dinnersFather Habets Assembly, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in Virginia Beach, will be serving a fish dinner from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent starting February 8 through March 14. Shroud Lenten TalksMary Mother of the Church Benedictine Abbey, 12829 River Road, Richmond, home of the Shroud of Turin Center, will have a Lenten series of talks devoted to the Shroud of Turin every Saturday during Lent at 10 a.m. The Shroud Center will provide a free multimedia presentation: “What can the Shroud tell us about the Resurrection?” Researchers Bryan Walsh and Diana Fulbright will lead the presentations which last about 90 minutes. Divine Mercy teachingMary Mother of the Church Benedictine Abbey in Richmond will sponsor a free seven-week interactive program “Oceans of Mercy” for clergy and laity. It will cover every major aspect of The Divine Mercy Message and Devotion, presented by today’s leading Divine Mercy experts. The sessions will be held every Wednesday night from 7 to 8:30 in the auditorium on: Feb. 13, 20, 27, March 5, 12, 19 and 26. The Abbey is located at 12829 River Road in Richmond. Day of RecollectionThe Catholic Woman’s Club will hold a Day of Recollection Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Columbian Center, 2324 Pump Rd., Richmond. Ryan Club speakerOld Dominion University football coach Bobby Wilder will be guest speaker at The Ryan Club dinner on Wednesday, February 20, at Grand Affairs restaurant in Virginia Beach. Seven sacramentsPrince of Peace Church in Chesapeake will present a three-part series on the Seven Sacraments on Monday nights, beginning Feb. 25. Other sessions will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on March 3 and 10. Questions posed will be: Are the Sacraments necessary for our salvation? Are the Sacraments the solution to our problems? Are the Sacraments found in Scripture? Will the Sacraments remain forever? Are the Sacraments making you a saint? Participants are asked to bring a Bible. Catholic faculty forumCatholic faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University and University of Richmond are invited to an organizational meeting of a Catholic Faculty Forum to be held at the Eugene and Lois Trani Life Sciences Building, conference room 116, on Monday, March 3, at 4 p.m. The purpose of the Catholic Faculty Forum is to explore the synergy possible between your Catholic faith and the academic environment. The agenda for this meeting is to organize such a Catholic forum at VCU and U of R with the goal of promoting Catholic academic life in Richmond.
