Director of the Office of Asian Ministry

The Diocese of Richmond seeks a full-time Director for the new Office of Asian Ministry. The Diocese of Richmond, Virginia, a school system of 25 regionally accredited parish and interparochial schools, and four private schools, is seeking a visionary leader for the full-time position of Superintendent of Catholic Schools. This diocesan school system has implemented a strategic plan to ensure the vitality and accessibility of its schools, and is seeking a dynamic educational leader to advance the process of continuous improvement in educational excellence and faith formation. Director for the Office of Campus and Young Adult Ministry

The Diocese of Richmond seeks a full-time Director for the Office of Campus and Young Adult Ministry. The director is responsible for coordinating the diocesan ministry to and with the young adults on the college and university campuses of the diocese and in the parishes. The director works and coordinates programming with all the campus ministers in the diocese. The director also oversees the Encounter with Christ program, Campus Leadership training, the Young Adult Convention and the administration of the office. Qualifications include a Master’s Degree in ministry or a closely related degree; five or more years professional campus ministry experience; good grasp of pastoral theology; strong administrative, leadership and communication skills; good interpersonal and collaborative skills; and a working knowledge of computer software applications. The candidate must be an active practicing Catholic. Closing date is March 14, 2008. READERS

The Diocesan Office of Christian Formation is seeking Candidates to be trained as READERS for the PARISH level of PATHWAYS for the Catechist Formation program. PATHWAYS is a diocesan training program for catechists who hand on the Catholic faith to adults, youth or children. Potential candidates must have some experience with catechesis and complete the 2004 PATHWAYS Self Evaluation guide in preparation for the Reader Training. The role of Reader is vitally important to the personal success of each catechist completing PATHWAYS. Volunteer needed for Haiti charity

The diocesan Maison Fortuné Orphanage Foundation is looking for a volunteer with computer skills living in the Hampton Roads region to set up and manage the donor database the foundation is setting up.

This will require several hours a week, particularly at the beginning. The foundation will be using Access software, and training is available.

Treasurer sought for Haitian Education Fund

The Haitian Education Fund, a part of the Haiti Outreach Mission of the Richmond Diocese, seeks a volunteer to join its Board to serve as Treasurer of the Fund.

As part of its role supporting the work of individual parish twinning committees, the Haitian Education Fund provides financial assistance to the Education Office of the Diocese of Hinche. This is used for teacher training and supervision.

The volunteer position responsibilities include: monthly creation of an actual vs. budget revenue and expense report (1 to 2 hours); monthly reconciliation of HEF records to the diocesan general ledger (1 to 2 hours); and regular attendance at a monthly board of directors meeting (2 to 3 hours).

“Qualified individuals should have at least a bachelor’s degree in accounting, a will for reconciling, and strong communication skills,” said Bill Sigler, a member of the group.

“If you have been seeking a fulfilling ministry to serve the poor while using your professional skills, please consider volunteering for this important service,” he added.
