People give $95,952 to Peter’s Pence collection

Catholics of the Diocese of Richmond gave a total of $95,952 to the annual Peter’s Pence collection which is used for the work of the Holy Father.

Archbishop Pietro Sambi, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, wrote Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo a letter of appreciation for the gift from Pope Benedict XVI.

“In addition to sharing in the material responsibilities facing Pope Benedict XVI, this expression of generosity by your people reveals their deep awareness of the bonds of faith, hope and love which they share with the Universal Church and God’s people, especially the poor, throughout the world,” Archbishop Sambi wrote.

“May God, who is infinitely generous, reward you and continue to bless you and the faithful under your pastoral care.”
