Catholic Passion series
A premier “Catholic Passion Series” event led by Dr. Adrian Marchi will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 621 Cedar Rd., Chesapeake, on Friday, Sept. 12, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. An optional pot luck dinner will begin at 6 p.m. and those who attend are asked to bring food to share.

Catholic evangelization
”Preaching, Teaching, and Sharing the Word of God” will be the theme of a workshop presented by Catholic evangelists Richard and Donna Lane, of Qorban Ministries, on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Diocesan Pastoral Center, located at 7800 Carousel Lane, Richmond.
Registration, including lunch and materials, is $10. This event is sponsored by the Office for Black Catholics, the Office of Worship, and the Black Catholic Commission. Used book sale
The Women’s Club of St. Gregory the Great Church in Virginia Beach will hold their 12th annual Used Book Sale on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20–21, in Paschal Hall. The sale will be on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Prices will range from 50 cents to $2.

Catholic Woman’s Club
The Catholic Woman’s Club will hold a reception for new and prospective members on Monday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. at The Columbian Center, 2324 Pump Road, Richmond. Faith Inclusion Network
The next meeting of Faith Inclusion Network of Hampton Roads will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Tabernacle Church of Norfolk, 7000 Granby Street. Lunch will be provided.
The group is open to any person interested in helping to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities into a faith community in the South Hampton Roads area. At the Sept. 25 meeting participants will break into small groups to work on the projects of creating an F.I.N. website and holding a workshop next spring.

‘Praying with Justice’
Sister Rose Mary Dougherty, a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame is Senior Fellow for Spiritual Guidance at Shalem Institute for Spiritual Guidance in Washington, will speak on “Praying with Justice as a Way of Life” on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at First Presbyterian Church, 820 Colonial Ave., Norfolk. She will speak again on “What is Contemplation?” on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12:15 in the church Fellowship Hall.

Charismatic Mass
Father Dan Brady will preside at Charismatic Mass on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. at St. Michael’s Church in Glen Allen. Norfolk concert
The 2008–2009 concert series of Blessed Sacrament parish in Norfolk will begin on Sunday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. with a performance by the U.S. Fleet Forces Band’s Brass Quintet and Woodwind Quintet. The concert is free and open to the public, and will be followed by a reception in our Social Hall.

Police officers honored
St. Stephen Martyr Church in Chesapeake will be the site of a Feast Day celebration of St. Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of police officers. The celebration will be on the vigil of the Feast, Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. The liturgy will acknowledge all police officers, those living as well as those who have died.

River Roast
St. Bridget Catholic School in Richmond will hold the fourth annual River Roast on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 6 until 11 p.m. at the American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar. The River Roast will include live music from BUTTER, silent and live auctions, and a 2009–2010 tuition raffle with the option to cash in for $3,000. Pilgrimage to Italy
A 10-day pilgrimage to Italy, “A Journey in the Footsteps of St. Paul and Italian Shrines Under the Tuscan Sun,” will leave Dulles Airport on May 18, 2009 and depart Rome on May 28. The price of $3,689 (plus $449.94 tax and fuel surcharge) includes the following — roundtrip air transport from Dulles; accommodations in first class hotels and villa (Tuscany); daily buffet breakfast; motorcoach services per itinerary; tour escort; wine tastings; daily Mass in Major churches/Basilicas.
