St. Mark’s yard sale

The Catholic Church of  St. Mark, Virginia Beach, will host a yard sale on Saturday, July 12, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items include clothing, toys, furniture, household goods, baby items and more. Donations for the sale are being accepted through Sunday, July 6.

All proceeds from the sale will go to benefit the children of Maison Fortune orphanage in Haiti. St. Mark, along with several other local parishes, has a twinning relationship with Maison Fortune and works to provide the children and staff of the orphanage with basic life needs. The sale will be held rain or shine. There will also be food, beverages and baked goods during the day.

purple lineFeast Day Mass/Breakfast

The St. Thomas More Society will have its annual liturgy and breakfast on the Feast of St. Thomas More Friday, June 20, at 8 a.m. at St. Paul Church, Chamberlayne and Rennie Avenues, Richmond. The celebrant will be Father George Zahn. All lawyers, judges and paralegals as well as students and guests are invited. The cost of the breakfast is $5. RSVP by contacting James E. Shalom House Retreat Center in western Hanover County will hold a contemplative retreat on Silence from Sunday through Friday, July 6–11, the first of four week-long retreats, Essences of Spirituality. For more information, contact Cathy Cawley, 804–883–6149.
