Minister of Christian Formation for Appalachian area

Regional Minister of Christian Formation for Small Parishes. The Catholic Diocese of Richmond seeks a Minister of Christian Formation for the Appalachian area of the diocese. The selected individual will support the local volunteer catechetical leaders in the 18 small parishes of Region 10 through consultation, resourcing, and implementation of the diocesan catechetical norms, and PATHWAYS, the diocesan catechist certification process. The regional minister will also promote Adult Faith Formation in the region and oversee the Region 10 Resource Library. The selected individual will have a master’s degree in Religious Education, Theology, or Pastoral Ministry, and have at least three years experience as a catechetical leader, preferably with small and/or rural parishes. Head of School

Family oriented, 130 year old, coeducational, fully-accredited, Regional Catholic School enrolling 240 students in grades PK–12, located in Lynchburg, Virginia, seeks a visionary leader to become its next Head of School starting July 1, 2008.

The ideal candidate will have experience in having a collaborative leadership style, superior communication, developing and managing a budget, and interpersonal skills and be able to articulate the school’s mission and vision for the future to the faculty and staff, school board, parents, alumni and the broader community. Director of Youth Ministry

The office of Christian Formation within the Catholic Diocese of Richmond seeks a full-time Director of Youth Ministry. The director brings the community together around a common vision and facilitates training and leadership formation for regional and parish ministry leaders. The director focuses on training for youth ministry, support for adolescent catechesis, providing for diocesan youth gatherings (retreats/convention), and identifying and distributing timely and strategic resources needed by youth ministry leaders. Qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Theology or related field and five or more years experience in parish/diocesan youth ministry (preferably some experience at the diocesan level). Director of Music

Plan, rehearse and coordinate music for 3 weekend liturgies, holy days, weddings, funerals and other liturgical rites. Responsible for adult choir, teen choir, and children’s choir programs, three-octave handbell choir, instrumental ensemble and cantors, as well as being a member of the liturgy committee and a resource person for staff personnel. Coordinator of Youth Ministry

Our parish is seeking an experienced, outgoing, and energetic leader to guide our youth ministry programs for grades 6–12. The Coordinator of Youth Ministry works closely with the Director of Christian Formation in our Whole Community Christian Formation Program in the planning, recruiting of volunteers, training catechists, and teaching formation when necessary. This position requires a flexible person with a positive attitude. The duties also include leading the Confirmation Preparation Sessions for candidates and sponsors. The Coordinator of Youth Ministry for St. Stephen, Martyr coordinates and leads a team of adults and youth leaders in preparing for their annual Confirmation Retreat. This person will be working with an established parish team. Computer skills are necessary.

Coordinator of Religious Education

The Church of the Sacred Heart in Prince George County, is seeking a Coordinator of Religious Education beginning July 1, 2008. The CRE works in collaboration with the pastor to maintain parish catechetical and sacramental programs for adults, youth, children, and RCIA. The position requires 25–30 hours per week, which includes some evenings and weekends during the catechetical year. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, or the Pastoral Ministry Leadership Formation (PMLF) program or a combination of certain formation and training agreed on by the Office of Christian Formation.
