‘Blessing of the runners’ ecumenical service set April 5

The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and the diocesan Office of Vocations will be hosting a “Blessing of the Runners” ecumenical service on the morning of the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10 K Race in Richmond.

The ecumenical prayer service will take place at the Cathedral on April 5, 2008, at 7:15 a.m., prior to the start of the 10K race.

This year, over 31,000 runners have registered to participate in the race, and the Cathedral is pleased to welcome them that morning for a brief service which will include readings from Scripture, intercessions, and a special Blessing of the Runners.

Seminarians of the diocese, who will be running the race that day, will assist with this service.

For more information, contact the Office of Vocations, 804–359–5661.
