Increased offertory topic for Vicariates
Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo and representatives of the diocese’s Office of Finance and Office of Catholic Schools will speak at three meetings of the diocese’s three regional vicariates about the Increased Offertory Campaign.
The program, under the direction of Tom Moran of Steward Consulting, Inc., is designed to increase the regular Sunday Offertory Income in all parishes throughout the diocese.
“Half of the income generated through this program will be used to strengthen our schools by offering tuition assistance, helping schools provide just wages for teachers, and helping to provide for teacher professional development,” Bishop DiLorenzo said in a letter to pastors and members of parish pastoral and finance councils. “The other half will remain at the parish to support programs for youth and other parish needs.”
The meetings are for pastors, parish administrators, and one representative from each parish pastoral and finance council.
A new Task Force will be established from the membership of both the Priests’ Council and the Diocesan Pastoral Council to facilitate the public relations and communications necessary to prepare parish personnel for the Increased Offertory Campaign which will be conducted over a three-year period.
The first meeting will be for the Eastern Vicariate on Wednesday, April 2 at 7 p.m. at Resurrection Parish, 3501 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth.
The meeting for the Central Vicariate will be held Tuesday, April 8 at 7 p.m. at the Diocesan Pastoral Center, 7800 Carousel Lane, Richmond.
The Western Vicariate will hold a meeting on Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Nazareth, 2505 Electric Road, Roanoke.
The purpose and goals of the new McMahon-Parater Foundation formed to develop an approach to keeping the Catholic schools in the diocese will be addressed at the meetings.
Parishes which wish to begin the Increased Offertory Program in your parish right away or have questions about its operation are asked to contact the Steward Consulting firm to receive the necessary information.
