Mass for healing

The Tidewater Catholic Charismatic Renewal Service Committee will celebrate a Mass for healing at the Church of the Ascension, 4853 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, on Wednesday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m.

There will be a Life in the Spirit Seminar at Saint Gregory the Great, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd., beginning on Monday, April 7 from 7 to 9:00 p.m. The seminar will be held for eight consecutive Monday evenings. PCES Auction

Please join us for PORTSMOUTH CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S 9th ANNUAL AUCTION to be held on March 15th in the school gym. The theme this year is the Enchanted Garden. Silent auction begins at 6 p.m. followed by the Live Auction at 8 p.m. Live music provided by “The Dixie Seven.” Tickets are $20 and include dinner buffet and beverages (including beer and wine).   • Easter Sunday, March 23, after 11 a.m. Mass

  • Monday–Friday, March 24–28, at 8 a.m.

  • Divine Mercy Sunday, March 30, 2:45 p.m. Mass, 3 p.m.

St. Benedict, 300 N. Sheppard St.:

  • Good Friday, 2:45 p.m.

Easter Sunrise Mass

The Friends of St. Mary’s Cemetery, Norfolk, will sponsor the 11th annual Easter Sunrise Mass on Sunday, March 23 at 6:30 a.m. The outdoor Mass will take place rain or shine in front of the cemetery’s mausoleum. The celebrant for the Mass will be Father Brian Rafferty, pastor of Christ the King Church. A light reception will follow. Celebration for Divine Mercy Sunday

The Feast of Divine Mercy will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 30, at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach. The image of Jesus of Divine Mercy will be displayed for veneration and the Divine Mercy chaplet will be sung. A pot luck reception will follow in the Tobias Room. All are welcome to attend. Divine Mercy Sunday

There will be a Holy Hour on Divine Mercy Sunday, March 30, from 3 to 4 p.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church in Yorktown. The Holy Hour will include Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and a talk by Deacon Dan Johnson.

St. Mary Church in Chesapeake has recently replaced its hymnals. We have 100 Gather Second Editions (printed in 1994), and 88 Worship Third Editions (printed 1986). If interested contact St. Mary’s Church at 757–488–2663.

Bereaved Spouses support

A new 9-week support group for widowed men and women will begin in the Bon Air area of Richmond on April 7. It will run for nine Monday evenings and end on June 2. Space is limited, and those who are interested or who wish to know more should contact the facilitator, Dr. Elaine Nowinski, by March 17. There is a nominal cost of $15 to cover books and materials. Worldwide Marriage Encounter

A Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend will be held in Richmond April 11–13, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday until around 5 p.m. Sunday. It requires a desire to make a good marriage great and a weekend away. It is not meant as a retreat, marriage clinic or problem solving weekend.

Living A Centered Life

A silent weekend retreat for women and men experienced in Centering Prayer led by Fr. Bill Sheehan, OMI will be held on April 11–13 at The Well Retreat Center.
