2008 Grant Application Process: Bishop’s Appeal and Home Mission/Mission Co-Op

For 2008, The Diocese of Richmond has adopted a combined application process to distribute funds from the Bishop’s Appeal and the Home Mission/Mission Co-op program.

Bishop’s Appeal grants are awarded to diocesan ministry programs meeting the following eligibility criteria:

  • The applying Catholic entity must be affiliated with the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Richmond.

  • The applying Catholic entity must be listed in the Official Catholic Directory or have tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(3) entity.

  • The program and grant beneficiary must be located within the geographic area served by the Diocese of Richmond.

  • The project for which funding is requested must conform to the moral and social teachings of the Catholic Church.

  • The project for which funding is requested must be within the focus areas of the Diocesan Case Statement: Catholic Schools, Cultural Ministries, Glad Tidings Fund for the Poor, Ministry Support, Parishes and Missions, Priests, Seminarians and Retired Priests, Spiritual Formation, Campus and Young Adult Ministry, Christian Formation, Retreat Centers, and Youth Ministry.

Home Missions and Mission Co-Op funds support parishes which are relatively less able than others in our diocese to provide basic pastoral services (evangelization, religious education, and training for ministry). Parishes eligible for these funds have been pre-determined, based on parish income, geography and socio-economics of the target populations they serve.

Please refer to the 2008 Grant Application and the 2008 Grant Application Guidelines for details, required information, priorities and limitations. The application and guidelines are available online at: richmonddiocese.org/appeal/grantprocess.htm.

For organizations that do not have web access and wish to request an application package, please contact the Development Office to request an application at 804–622–5122.

Applications must be postmarked by Friday April 11, 2008.
