Chrism Mass to be held
Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo will preside at the annual Chrism Mass to be held on Monday, March 17, at 6 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. During the liturgy, which is held throughout the world as part of Holy Week, the bishop will bless the Oil of the Sick and Oil of the Catechumens and consecrate the Sacred Chrism used at Baptism, Confirmation and at Ordination to the priesthood and diaconate.
“The Chrism Mass is a unique opportunity for priests to publicly witness to our commitment to our vocation to priesthood,” Bishop DiLorenzo said. “It is a sign of unity and communion between priests and their bishop.”
Parishioners from around the diocese are encouraged to attend and they will be recognized as the names of parishes from each region are called.
Clergy from each of the diocese’s 12 regions will come forward to receive the oils and bring them to the various parishes and Catholic hospitals in their region.
