‘Welcome Home’

St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Yorktown is offering a “Welcome Home” program for Catholics interested in returning to the practice of their faith beginning Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. The program consists of six informational sessions held on consecutive Tuesday evenings at the church located on Route 17 in York County. The sessions are informal and offered with a welcoming spirit. There is no cost or obligation. Cathedral concert

Father Michael Renninger, baritone, and Anne O’Byrne, soprano, accompanied by Patrick Carlin, minister of music at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, will present a one-hour concert of music by Vivaldi, Mozart, Bizet and others on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.

Youth Retreats

Western Vicariate

A full schedule of youth retreats for the winter and spring of 2008 has been announced by the Office of Christian Formation. In the western vicariate Discovery retreats will be held at the Smith Mountain Lake 4-H Center on February 1–3 and again on February 22–24.

Another Discovery will be held February 29–March 2 at Camp Bethel. A Christian Awakening retreat will be held April 4–6 at Smith Mountain Lake. For western retreat registrations contact Ginnie Huddleston at 540–774–3924 or e-mail virgh2@verizon.net.

Eastern and Central Vicariates

In the eastern and central vicariates Discovery retreats will be held January 25–27 at Airfield 4-H Conference Center in Wakefield, and February 8–10 at Mary Mother of the Church Abbey in Richmond. A Christian Awakening retreat will be held February 29–March 2 in Wakefield. For eastern retreat registrations contact Wendy Henderson at 804–622–5112 or email at whenderson@richmonddiocese.org.

Kujenga Youth Retreat

The Kujenga Youth Retreat will be held February 1–3 at the Airfield 4-H Conference Center in Wakefield. For Kujenga registration, contact Dawn Crutchfield at 804–622–5109 or e-mail dcructhfield@richmonddiocese.org.

The cost for participation for all diocesan retreats is $100 per youth. Registration forms can be downloaded from the Youth Ministry web site at www.richmonddiocese.org/ym in the “News and Events” section.
