CCHD grant
Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo does a double handshake with Adria Scharf, director of the Richmond Peace Education Center, left, and Ram Bhagat, a member of the RPEC board of directors and educator with the Richmond public schools, after presenting them with a check representing a $6,500 grant from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. The money will be used to develop and expand the Richmond Youth Peace Project. The project has a teen conflict resolution team which leads workshops for teenagers on how to resolve disagreements non-violently and offer alternatives to violence and war, especially violent crime by teenagers.

Middlesex to build
The Catholic Church of the Visitation in Middlesex County held a groundbreaking for alterations and additions to its existing church building November 11. Father John Boddie, pastor, is at the far right. When completed, the project will result in new additions totaling 4,000 square feet. The Church of the Visitation will celebrate its jubilee in 2008.

Kathryn Dorson, priest’s mother, dies
Kathryn F. Dorson, the mother of Father James Dorson, pastor of St. Thomas More parish in Lynchburg, died Dec. 8 in Virginia Beach. She was 92 and was a resident of Marian Manor.
Father Dorson celebrated Mass of Christian Burial Dec. 11 at St. Gregory the Great Church in Virginia Beach, with burial at Meadow Brook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk.
