Fuel and Hunger Fund gives $95,000 in grants in 2007

Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo has approved the distribution of $95,000 to programs which assist needy people to have food and stay warm during the winter.

This figure is an increase of $20,400 more than the $74,600 given in grants in last year’s distribution.

“Thanks to the generosity of many people in our diocese the diocese distributed $95,000 in Fuel and Hunger Fund grants,” said Michael Stone, director of the diocesan Office of Justice and Peace which administers the fund.

The Fuel and Hunger Fund, he pointed out, is made possible by the Bishop’s Appeal Glad Tidings Fund for the poor and proceeds from Operation Rice Bowl.
