The new Diocesan Pastoral Center of the Diocese of Richmond, scheduled to be ready for occupancy by late 2007, is located at 7800 Carousel Lane, one block from the intersection of Broad Street and Parham Road in Henrico County. The building, which is 25 years old, is brick and glass with concrete floors and has been unoccupied for the past two years. The diocese purchased the two-story building for $3,750,000 and will spend an estimated $2,250,000 for capital improvements which will include a new roof, new heating and cooling systems, carpeting and construction of new offices, a chapel, conference rooms, classrooms and a kitchen. The current buildings of the Diocesan Chancery, located at 811 Cathedral Place, will be sold to pay for most of the costs of the new center. The new facility will house all diocesan offices, including the Diocesan Tribunal and The Catholic Virginian. In addition, there will be 221 parking spaces. The closing date is March 2.
