World Refugee Day
On this sixth anniversary of the UN-designated World Refugee Day, Ten Thousand Villages Manager Kay Jones, left, and Refugee and Immigration Services-Hampton Roads Regional Director Karen Kurilko joined forces for a special fundraising event benefiting the diocesan Office of Refugee and Immigration Services-Hampton Roads. To help increase understanding about refugee issues through the telling of personal stories, former refugees are available to share their stories by speaking to clubs, community groups and area schools. For more information, call Randi Akers at the office, 757–247–3600 Ext. 20.

Clergy appointment
Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo has made the following clergy appointment, effective immediately:
Rev. James Glass, OSB, in addition to being pastor of St. Theresa parish, Farmville, is also pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary, Blackstone; St. John the Baptist, Crewe, and Sacred Heart, Meherrin. (Therese Mansfield will remain pastoral coordinator of the latter three parishes. Father John Kloepfer will continue to be the sacramental priest for all three parishes.)

Benedictine monks gather
Benedictine monks of Mary Mother of the Church Abbey in Richmond gather in the abbey courtyard July 11, the Feast of St. Benedict, following a Mass at which two of them made profession of vows. The abbey is located at 12829 River Road, 14 miles west of downtown Richmond, in the building originally built as St. John Vianney Seminary.
The high school seminary, which was operated by the Diocese of Richmond, opened in 1960 and was closed in 1978.

Clarification
Due to a printing error, the email address of the diocese’s new Pastoral Ministry Leadership Formation program in the July 2 issue was incorrect. The correct address is pmlf@richmonddiocese.org.
