St. Benedict School
St. Benedict School, Richmond, will present Arts in the Alley, Saturday, May 12, from 10 a.m.–3 a.m. behind the school near Grove and Belmont. Arts in the Alley will have arts & crafts by local vendors, children’s games, food and entertainment.
Art Auction
The nationally famous Ross Galleries in conjunction with Prince of Peace Church in Chesapeake will present a local Art Show and Auction on Friday, May 18, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 621 Cedar Rd., Chesapeake. The show will feature original oils, lithographs, serigraphs, sports memorabilia and prints. The auction will include works by a wide variety of artists at affordable prices. The preview of the art will begin at 7 p.m. and the auction will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and the event will include wine and cheese and hors d’oeuvres. Retirement party
St. Theresa parish in Farmville will have a retirement party for Father Carl DeSouza, current pastor, on Saturday, May 19, after the 5:30 p.m. Mass. There are no official invitations to the party and all are welcome. All who plan to come are asked to call the church office to let those planning the reception know that you are planning to attend. The office number is 434–392–3934. If there is no answer, please leave a message on the voice mail.
Spring Fest 2007
St. Gregory the Great Parish in Virginia Beach will hold its Spring Fest 2007 on Saturday and Sunday, May 19–20, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Features will be a Police K9 demonstration, car show, Battle of the Bands, take-out foods, live entertainment, games, rides, a rock climbing wall and dunk tank.
Charismatic Mass
Pentecost will be celebrated at a Spirit filled Mass on Monday, May 28, at 7:30 p.m., at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 10701 Huguenot Road, Richmond. The People of Praise Prayer Group will be hosting the celebration.
Shalom House
Shalom House Retreat House in Montpelier, Hanover County, will show the movie “Romero” on Tuesday, May 29, at 1 p.m. as part of its faith and social justice video series. Films will be followed by discussion. Refreshments will be served. There is no cost, but donations will be accepted. School reunion
A reunion of the former St. Elizabeth’s School in Richmond will be held on Sept. 22. All who attended, taught or were affiliated with the school are invited.
