A memorial Mass for Xaverian Brother Cosmas Rubencamp, who died earlier in May in Danvers, Mass. at 84, will be held on Wednesday, June 14, at 6 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.
Brother Cosmas was director of the diocesan Office of Campus and Young Adult Ministry until his retirement in 2005. He was a key initiator in the Diocese’s Haiti Ministry and visited Haiti more than 40 times in his role of a guide for various groups of parishes and campus ministry programs, many of which later developed twinning relationships with a Haitian parish, Catholic school or orphanage.
Priests on the altar will include Msgr. Patrick Golden, rector of the Cathedral; Father James Griffin, pastor of St. Paul’s, Richmond, and Father Michael Renninger, pastor of St. Mary’s, Richmond.
“We want to remember and celebrate the person, ministry and legacy of Cos Rubencamp,” said Ed Gerardo, a member of Cathedral Parish who is helping plan the liturgy.
