St. Matthew’s Catholic School is very proud of our students who have participated in the Fleet Reserve Association Essay Contest each year. 

At the Fleet Reserve Association Essay Contest awards ceremony held on February 15th, one of our eighth graders and two of our seventh graders walked away winners.

Among essays submitted from schools all over Hampton Roads, Patrick Zanti placed 1st among all 8th grade essays submitted. Vanessa Huynh placed 1st and Nadia Evancho placed 3rd among all seventh grade essays submitted. The theme of this year’s essay contest was “What Memorial Day Means to Me.”

Over the past 7 years, St. Matthew’s Catholic School students have won $15,100 in prizes.
